I believe in simple because it represents the ultimate sophistication. Simple as outcome is brutally difficult, requiring unrelenting rigor, infinite empathy, and a willingness to let go. It’s a formula few can muster but when applied, wow.
Franklin’s wife once said “You should take a little risk everyday”. It’s a thought that I live by. Because the truth is this is the only life we have, and every hour of every day that goes by without adventure, without learning, without finding out what happens when you take a little risk, is a wasted moment. This website is a new adventure for me. A place to place my thoughts, to get feedback, and to rise above my inert self to make some good happen. I hope you will join me.
Nicholas Carr wrote about it. I keep thinking about it. The more we automate our lives the more we don’t have to think. And the less we think, the more dull and dumb we get. Contemplation and deep examination are critical functions to achieve real understanding; the kind of understanding that enables good things to happen. Another example albeit from a completely different angle is captured here, complements of my friend Caroline Beaulieu. http://variety.com/2013/biz/news/katy-perrys-prism-a-good-example-of-how-albums-dont-work-anymore-1200824933/
