IH079 - Rebooting Insert:Human

I launched Insert:Human about a year ago to explore the world through the lens of humanism—to determine how everything could be made better if more of us simply understood the complex truths of humanity. A year later, I have had more than 100,000 listeners tune into the show, listening to brilliant guests from all over the world talk about their human-based work. The feedback has been incredible, as have been my learnings over the years. I have learned that there are people all over the world who are trying to better connect with humanity’s realities, needs, aspirations, limitations, fears, wants, and desires. Applying these connections, we can ultimately increase the chances that the future delivers more wellbeing for many more people.

However, for all the show’s success, I have realized that it was too broad in scope. I realized that, if I really wanted to inspire people to insert more human into the world, it would help to focus on specific individuals and endeavors.

In today’s episode, I divulge how I will be averting Insert:Human’s focus to leaders due to their influence on millions. The show will also focus on the leaders of small or midsize companies and non-profit organizations in the financial, education, and healthcare sectors because those are the sectors that really underpin modern society. These “small” players have the greatest ability to change themselves and, subsequently, the sectors. I also share the six human-centered criteria—which the show will explore in the coming months—that transforming organizations or systems must embrace.

“Fundamentally, if we want to transform the world, we should start by transforming how education, healthcare, and finance work.” - Chris Colbert
