Together they have resulted in what is a distinct ability to help organizations realize their full potential by better embracing the human truth, challenging legacy thinking, and creating motivating foundations for functional and behavioral growth.  I am first and foremost a simplifier, integrating systems thinking with highly intuitive and non-linear creativity, to produce human-ready answers to complex questions, resulting in innovations and solutions that actually work.

Up until 2005 I ran several companies focused on innovation and technology, including Database Marketing Corporation, one of the first players in that space, BeNow, a data business (sold to Equifax) and Holland-Mark, a full-service agency and innovation-consulting firm.   From 2006 to 2012, as CEO of Holland-Mark, I worked with a range of CEOs and their leadership teams on growth and turnaround strategies by leveraging innovation best practices, achieving organizational alignment, and motivating individual and collective behavior change.

In 2012 I became Chairman Emeritus of Holland-Mark and took a position as SVP, Strategy at Scholastic Corporation in New York to transform its analog business to digital. After a successful turnaround, I left Scholastic in 2014 to explore the world of higher education and its digital transformation. That led me to the Harvard Innovation Labs, where I served as Managing Director until 2019.  I then left Harvard to speak to and advise organizations and countries on why and how to embrace change and the importance of adopting new behaviors to fully realize the potential of digital technologies without suffering the unintended consequences and costs. Since then my focus has been on helping the leaders within three foundational industries: finance, education, and healthcare transform.

In addition to leadership advising I am an author of This Is It, a provocative work on the importance of innovating oneself and nearing completion of my second book Technology is Dead. I speak around the world on a range of topics including global innovation, technology stewardship and the human truths of transformation. I received a BA from Connecticut College and an International MBA from Duke's Fuqua School of Business.

My board work includes Grand Circle Corporation, The Securities and Capital Markets Advisory Board of the United Arab Emirates, The Leadership Council of the MGH Cancer Center, The Rose Kennedy Greenway Leadership Council, the MassArt Corporate Advisory Council, the Greater Boston Food Bank, Pillar Ventures, Fintech Americas, and Now + There, a non-profit public art organization.
